BURTON, MI - CenterPoint Church is helping students in the Flint area prepare for a new school year with huge giveaways and free services.

The annual Bless Flint back-to-school giveaway and resource fair is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 5, in the CenterPoint parking lot at 1225 S. Center Road in Burton. The free event is open to anyone in the community.

“We will be giving away food, clothes, school supplies, and access to a variety of community resources,” Kyle Bailey, senior pastor at the church, said in a news release promoting the event. “Come receive a blessing as we help our community get the school year off to a great start.”

Bless Flint aims to outfit children with everything they need to start the school year. The church is giving away school supplies, including crayons, markers, colored pencils and notebooks. All giveaways will take place on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

CenterPoint is also offering new or gently-used clothing and shoes and new socks and undergarments as well as personal hygiene products.

Groceries from the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan will also be available while supplies last, organizers said.

Hot dogs, chips, bottled water, sno-cones, and popcorn are part of the give-away.

CenterPoint pastors will staff a large tent set up for prayer, worship and baptisms, according to the church’s news release.

For more information, call CenterPoint Church at 810-743-0000 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
